Registered dental hygienist and certified biological hygienist

I have been a hygienist since 2005, and for a long stretch of that I was doing exactly what I was taught: scaling, polishing, recommending the same three things to everyone, and quietly wondering why some patients never got better.

Salivary diagnostics changed the question for me. The test result is the easy part. Knowing what to do with it is the part nobody is teaching. That gap is what Saliva Sleuths was built to close.

Her patience with us as we try to absorb the information, and her willingness to admit when she does not know the answer, is refreshing. It gives me hope that I can get there.

Questions

What is salivary testing, and why is it used in dentistry and medicine?

Salivary testing is a non-invasive way to assess the oral microbiome, pH, inflammation markers, and other health indicators found in saliva. It helps identify bacterial imbalances and risk for periodontal disease, decay, halitosis, and systemic inflammation.

What can a salivary test detect that a regular cleaning cannot?

A cleaning treats what is already visible. Salivary testing looks underneath it, revealing the microbial and inflammatory patterns driving disease so care can be targeted at the root rather than the symptom.

How does salivary testing help personalize treatment?

Results show which specific imbalances are present, so recommendations can be tailored to your mouth and your biology instead of a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Is salivary testing safe and accurate?

Yes. It is non-invasive and draws on validated laboratory methods to give a reliable picture of your oral and systemic health markers.

Do I need a Bristle test before coaching?

It makes the hour far more useful, because the whole session is built around reading your own results. If you do not have results yet, order the test first and book once they are back.

Will coaching replace my dentist or hygienist?

No, and it is not meant to. This is educational coaching. It is designed to make you a better informed partner to the people who diagnose and treat you.

Is CE credit included in the membership?

Yes. Webinars, courses and case file sessions carry CE, whether you attend live or watch the recording, and it is included in your membership at no additional cost. Credit is issued through the American Academy of Dental Hygiene, so verify acceptance with your own licensing board.
